Our Top 3 SUP Trailer Shopping Tips

Stand up paddleboarding can be a great time for you, as well as your friends and family. There’s so much to explore, not to mention, it can be quite a workout! However, if you’re looking to head to the water and need to transport your board, it can help to have the right equipment. A stand up paddleboard trailer, also known as a SUP trailer, can be a huge help when you need to transport your paddleboard to the launch.

When shopping for a SUP trailer, keep these 3 tips in mind:

1.)    Consider Sizing & Capacity. Stand up paddleboards tend to be pretty large and can be cumbersome to lug around from storage to the water. While single paddleboards can be strapped to the roof of your vehicle using tie downs and roof rack equipment, it can be tough when you have more than one to take on your trip. That can mean multiple vehicles or multiple trips. It’s better to transport multiple boards on a SUP trailer that can handle more than one. When shopping for your trailer, consider the average number of boards you’ll need to transport as well as the length and width of your boards.

2.)    Opt for Rust-Resistant Materials. Trailer construction is all about durability and longevity. The tougher the trailer, the more use you can get out of it. For paddleboarders, that often means looking for rust-resistant materials that can stand up to salt and other outdoor exposure. Look for SUP trailers made with galvanized steel or other rust-resistant materials to ensure a longer trailer lifespan.

3.)    Make it Easy With DOT Approval & Titling: Depending on the state you live in, having a title with your trailer purchase can save a lot of time and hassle. Additionally, making sure that your SUP trailer is street legal can help you keep yourself and others safe while reducing risk. At Magneta Trailers, we make it easy on both counts by offering SUP trailers with titles as well as DOT-approved designs.

Need help finding the right SUP trailer or have questions? Give our customer service team a call and we’d be happy to help you find the right trailer to fit your paddleboard or other recreation equipment.
